Mother’s Day Classic – 12 May 2013

Dear family and friends

This year, in loving memory of Leisl, PANDORA has decided to get a team together to participate in the Mother’s Day Classic Fun Run and Walk which will be taking place in the Domain on 12th May. The event is a 4km or 8km walk or run from Macquarie Street to Mrs Macquarie’s chair and back to the Domain.

I would be delighted if you would like to join with me, the kids and the rest of the PANDORA team to take part in this worthwhile event. Each member of the team will be provided with a pink PANDORA T shirt to wear on the day. They will have a marquee set up as a meeting place and will provide drinks and snacks after the event.

Use the form below to let me know you are interested, and I will forward you specific details about how to register 🙂

Please come along and help make the day truly memorable!

Leisl Gerdes Commemorative Pendant

Leisl Gerdes (LG) exudes a vibrant, cheeky, fearless, kind & optimistic spirit. That twinkle in her eye says that ‘Life’s Good’ (LG)! Using Leisl’s initials and her courageous character as inspiration, a pendant has been designed to celebrate Leisl’s life and our friendship, respect and memory of her.

This pendant has been designed and manufactured locally by Leisl’s friends. The back of the pendant is highly polished and suitable for personalised engraving. The bail is large enough to fit many styles of chain (not included).

The Life’s Good pendant provides us with a wonderful opportunity to support Leisl’s family. All profits from the sale of the pendant will go to the Leisl Gerdes Trust**.

A Life’s Good pendant was given to Leisl. On the back she has engraved her legacy to us all…….

It takes a village to raise a child

As mentioned during my farewell, there has been a trust fund established for Kieren (6) & Paige (4). The trust has been set up to support the kids future, and has only been made possible due to the overwhelming generosity shown to our family in recent weeks. Should you wish to contribute to the trust, the details are listed below.

We would like to thank everyone for their love, support, kindness and generosity.

Some News

On the 18th of December 2011 I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I undertook a full gastrectomy (removal of my stomach) which was followed by many months of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. In July 2012 scans showed that the cancer had left my body.
Unfortunately on the 1st of December this year the disease returned metastasising in my ovaries and has now spread to my lungs. I have been advised that I don’t have very much more time in this life left and would dearly love to have a collate these memories for my kids.
For some of you this news may come as a shock and I apologise for it is not my intention to shock or sadden anyone. Rather my intention is to create a collection of memories that I am able to share with my beautiful children, Kieren (6) and Paige (4) but I need your help to do this. If you would be kind enough to go to my web site Guest Book and write as little or as much as you like about how we know each other, a funny story … warts and all, it will help my kids understand who I am / was when they are older. If you have photos you could attach that would be great!
If you are able to forward the website on to others I would also appreciate it.
For locals, we will be organising a get together very soon and will place details on the site.  Thank you in anticipation of your support.
